I practice Brief Therapy. This means I work with clients for weeks/months rather than years. I believe that if therapy is working well clients experience the positive changes they need pretty quickly. For people to initiate, then witness changes occurring in their lives is extremely empowering and drives them to keep going and move towards what they need instead. This is often a marvellous, life-changing experience.

Why do people need therapy?
Anxiety & Depression
Depression, fear and anxiety are some of the most common and uncomfortable emotions we can experience in our lives, severely affecting, even bringing us to a standstill if not dealt with. Counselling and other therapies, will help you recover motivation, gain new perspectives, and feel more happiness in your life.
Trauma & PTSD
PTSD comes in many forms. Individuals can experience symptoms associated with painful and traumatic events. Fear, anger, feeling stuck and hopeless are some emotions that can linger following such events. It's possible to deal positively with these symptoms via processes of desensitising and healing.
Relationship counselling can be beneficial to couples who are looking to understand/make decisions about their emotional connection at any stage of their relationship. Sessions are held with both people present in a supportive, impartial environment discussing specific issues and finding solutions to them.
Loss & Grief
Grief is a natural response to loss. It might be loss of a loved one, relationship, pregnancy, pet, job or way of life. Grief is expressed in many ways over differing time periods. It can affect many parts of life - emotions, thoughts, behaviour, beliefs, physical health, even your sense of identity and relationships with others.
Feelings of anger or violent acting out can be related to many different underlying causes. The emotion of anger is entirely natural. It's usual to feel angry when we believe we have been mistreated/wronged in some way. Learning to express and moderate anger is crucial if we are to lead less destructive lives.
Improving Self Esteem
Many people who struggle with perpetual low self esteem experience the situation as something they have to tolerate and bear - as if it were a chronic health condition. With the right assistance, finding the path to positive self regard is a skill people can learn and develop, enhancing their life potential.
Issues from Childhood
Whilst the effects of adverse developmental trauma in our adulthood can be disheartening and daunting to contemplate, the work of recovery and healthy identity formation beyond that of the traumatised self is possible. Therapeutic efforts can be effective, and addressing these issues really pays off.
Fears & Phobias
Phobias are a persistent, intense, and unrealistic fear of certain objects or situations. Specific phobias typically involve fears related to animals, natural environments, medical issues, flying, social situations etc. Rather than limiting areas of life, it is possible to lessen or eradicate fears with expert assistance.
